I. History and Activities.

October 26, 1963:

A meeting for establishing national park was held in the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry. In this meeting William J.Hart and scholars and personnels concerned participated.

October, 1963:

William J .Hart and personnels in Forest-Conservation Section of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry surveyed the areas of Mt. Sul-ak and Mt. Chi-ri.

November 2, 1963:

In the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry there was a meeting in which home scholors and personnels concerned participated. At this meeting William J. Hart presented the report about the result of his surveying the areas above.

December 24, 1963: 

At the first General Assembly of Scientific Research Committee for Conservation of Nature and Natural Resources held in faculty council chamber, regulations and research programmes were carried.

December 28, 1963:

The application form of requesting 59,C00 $ (The expense for scientific research for conservation of natural resources) and the list of 22 committee~members were sent to ICNP.

November 1, 1964:

About 90 home scholars participated in the scientific research of the following 3 areas for national park. For this, Bureau of Cultural Property Preservation in the Ministry of Education supplied 8,890 $.

Head: Prof. Park, Man Kyu
Zoological part: Prof. Cho, Pok Sung and 15 members
Botanical part: Prof. Park, Man Kyu and 11 Members
Geological part: Prof. son, Chi Moo and 23 members
Officers: 5 members
Report: 2,108 sheets made

2. Island “Hong Do” (1, 450 acres)

Head: Prof. Choi, Ki Chul
Zooligical part: Prof. Choi, Ki Chul and 3 members
Botanical part: Prof. Lee, Chang Bok and 2 members
