USNM Curators Annual Reports: Department of Mollusks, 1884
About the Project
Owing to honorary curator William H. Dall's ongoing collecting expeditions, a Mr. R.E.C. Stearns assisted on a part-time non-resident basis. In addition, Lieutenant Francis Winslow was detailed by the United States Navy to assist in the care of the Mollusks collections, having previously been involved in the Mollusks exhibit at the 1883 International Fisheries Exhibition in London. The addition of Lieutenant Winslow to the department might explain his three letters that were attached to head curator Dall's annual report. Join other #volunpeers in the transcription of this report, used later by the Secretary to lobby for a permanent resident curator for these collections.
