[[preprinted]] WAR DEPARTMENT, Bureau Refugees, Freedmen, and Abandoned Lands, Office Chief Quartermaster, WASHINGTON, ^[[July 8,]] 1867. Respectfully [[/preprinted]] returned to the Actg. Asst. Adjt Genl. remarking that under existing order and regulations there is no authority for furnishing the transportation asked for. It is suggested, however, that if the object of the applicant is to get possession of the deceased sister's children for the purpose of bringing them to her home in this city so that they may not become a charge to the Government transportation might be granted as an application
