Dear Waldo,
Just a short note to-day because I just read that a ship is sailing for Montevideo on Monday and I'll try to catch it.
I'm hoping to hear from you this next week but things look gloomy as there is no steamer coming from Rio up until Thursday anyway. I read that smallpox is raging in Rio. I wonder if you got into trouble on account of it. 
We had our first snap of cold weather last night. Think of it! The middle of August! I had to pull blankets out of the trunk. It went down to about fifty.
We all went to Keiths yesterday afternoon and enjoyed it a lot, and just wait until you hear my troubles. I bought the tickets early in the week and lost them on the way home. I phoned at once and they were
