Dear Stummy I don't know where to begin, I'm in a terrible stew it just turned out as I feared it would in that one letter [[cross-out]]fn[[/cross-out]] I wrote you.

You know I thought I had made all arrangements for those darned ostriches here, and imagine my surprise when returning Tuesday morning that [[underline]]nothing[[/underline]] had been done. Not one thing. They got the idea I could wait two weeks more & besides they didn't think there was time enough. Well I was so flabbergasted I couldn't do anything but sit down. Then I got busy. In a taxi I visited six different carpenters before I found one who would make the cages or crates in day in a half, I contracted for the fodder & its delivery, engaged an auto truck to take me & the cages to the estancia to get the birds & make the man
