[[underlined]] April 2 [[/underlined]] Went up to the camp in Panamint CaƱon. Found only Tie & Funston at camp. Dr. Fisher & Nelson & Coville & Burnett had gone to Telescope Peak yesterday morning & camped over night. Took 2 burros & one saddle horse. They returned to camp about 9 P.M., just as Funston & I had made our bed of all the blankets in camp.

It was tough looking party that came straggling in, cold & hungry & wet footed, their pants and shoes mostly torn & worn off. Nelson & Dr. Fisher had each a Spilogale & some Hesperomys eremicus & megalotus, the megalotus with the largest ears I ever saw on a Hesperomys.

They had had a hard trip & had not reached the highest point of Telescope. Had eaten snow until they nearly choked for water. Camped one night on top of the main ridge. Coville found 2 species of pines besides monophylla & Juniperus occidentalis and californicus.

[[underlined]] April 3 [[/underlined]] Got a bag of traps & returned to the wagon at 1 Bennetts Wells. Dare not leave the things there alone.
Found George, who had not succeeded in getting Daytons wagon & had returned to Bennetts. Cant get a wagon now for 2 days.
