[[underlined]] June 15. [[/underlined]] Have been with C.[[strikethrough]] M.[[/strikethrough]] H.M. [[C.H.M]] on a trip
to Colorado River & Utah and he has kept journal since April 8 -
Hired a Mexican packer (Belanche) and left Lone Pine for Death Valley with Dr. Fisher. Have 2 mules & a horse for packing.
Camped at Keeler when we met Nelson & Dutcher & Coville & Funston.
Not uncomfortably warm.

[[underlined]] June 16. [[/underlined]] Started from Keeler at 7:30. A.M.
Reached Darwin at 4:30 & went about 5 miles beyond & camped in Coso Valley.
Rather too warm for comfort part of the day. On the dry slopes around Owen lake and all along the road to Darwin vegetation is dry, most of the small anual plants have dried up, very few flowers were seen. A few Composites & Gilies are still in flower.

[[underline]] June 17 [[/underlined]] The horses went up valley about 4 miles & delayed us so we did not get started till 9 oclock. Crossed the Argus range & down past Lookout
Got water at Gunn's mine & then struck across Panamint Valley to Wild Rose. Saw lots of Sauromalus ater on rocks along the caƱon above Lookout. Lots of Tamias leucurus
Crotaphytus bailey was abundant on the mountains
Cnemidophorus te[[strikethrough]] ll [[/strikethrough]]sselatus [[Cnemidophorus tesselatus]] was common in
