MINUTES OF DECEMBER 13 MEETING.

The Secretary presented the minutes of the Annual Meeting held December 13, stating that they had been supplied to the Regents in typewritten form. In the absence of objection, the Chairman declared the minutes approved as circulated.

ADDITIONAL ASSISTANT SECRETARY.

The Secretary spoke of the Board's action at the annual meeting December 13 in adopting a resolution declaring the need of an additional Assistant Secretary, stating that it had been sent to the President as requested, and that he had replied saying that the matter had been referred to the Director of the Budget.

The Secretary further stated that the Director of the Budget, General Lord, had submitted the matter to Congress; that the Classification Board had put this position in Class 6, and that the minimum salary of the Class, $6,000 per annum, had been fixed by the Committee. He added that he had been asked to appear before the Committee this afternoon in this connection.

REORGANIZATION OF GOVERNMENT DEPARTMENTS.

The Secretary referred to the proposal to place the Institution under the direction of the new Department of Education. There was a general expression of disapproval of the plan, and Mr. Moore remarked that such an action was in no way imminent, as the Committee dealing with it was convinced that it was inadvisable.
