FREER COMMITTEE.

The Secretary reminded the Board that at the meeting of February 17, 1928, a resolution had been adopted appointing Messrs. Hughes, Robinson and Moore as a committee to consider the provisions in the Freer Gift and Bequest that had been the subject of various interpretations, and to report to the Board. In that meeting Senator Smoot had read a letter from Mr. Meyer in regard to the interpretations to be placed upon the terms of Mr. Freer's will, and Senator Robinson submitted a resolution providing that Senator Smoot be requested to confer with Mr. Meyer and others, and that if they approved the appointment of the legal committee named, the first resolution should be considered the action of the Board.

The Secretary added that he had received word from Senator Smoot that the action of the Board had been approved by Mr. Meyer and his friends. The Secretary had accordingly supplied the members of the Committee with the papers in the case, and the Committee was now functioning under the chairmanship of Mr. Hughes.
