Preservation of Collections - Salaries (Continued)

Brought Forward - $91,600

Charges in Reallocations;

5 Curators from P 4 at $4,400 to P 5 at $5,600, the additional salaries amounting to - 6,000

Scientists of exceptional merit should be raised to a salary equal to that given to the head curators as otherwise economic pressure will force them to accept higher salaries from other institutions. The Government needs the services of these men and should be in situation to retain them.

Promotions to bring those now below the average in their respective grade to that level - 19,000

Additional supplies and  materials of all kinds - 10,000

Travel, freight and miscellaneous - 10,000

It is necessary now to hold vacant positions open to the detriment of the service to accumulate part of this money.

Building Repairs - Reallocations

5 Men CU 6 to CU 7 - $ 900
1 Man CU 4 to CU 5 - 180 

To give proper salaries with regard to similar workers in other departments.

Step-ups - 240

To bring employees to average of grades

1 Additional mechanic - 1,860 

Required to keep abreast of current work
