MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETINGS

The Secretary submitted the printed copy of the minutes of the Board meetings held during the year past, stating that they had been sent to the Regents both in this and in typewritten form. 
On motion, the minutes were approved.

APPOINTMENT OF REGENT

The Secretary announced that Representative Walter H. Newton had resigned his seat as a Member of the House on June 30, last, thus automatically terminating his appointment as Regent, and that the Speaker had appointed Representative Robert Luce as a Regent to succeed him.

RESOLUTION RELATIVE TO INCOME AND EXPENDITURE

Mr. Delano submitted the following customary resolution, which was adopted:

RESOLVED; That the income of the Institution for the fiscal year ending June 30, 1931, be appropriated for the service of the Institution, to be expended by the Secretary, with the advice of the Executive Committee, will full discretion on the part of the Secretary as to items.

SECRETARY'S ANNUAL REPORT

The Secretary stated that this report for the fiscal year ending June 30, 1929, had been supplied to the Regents.

The Secretary added that --

During the fiscal year 1929, the Institution published 128 volumes and pamphlets, 49 of these being issued by the Institution proper, 69 by the National Museum, and 8 by the Bureau of American Ethnology. A total of 197,573 copies of Smithsonian publications were distributed during the year.
