development of a five-year phased procurement schedule correlated to the occupancy of the building by the program units and their collections. These one-time costs for the period 1981-85 include equipment purchases to accommodate the transfer of current collection s to the Center; the purchase of other equipment for the Conservation Laboratories, protection systems, and other laboratories and work spaces; and the purchase of equipment for cleaning, packing and shipping, and other support functions for the building.
[[underline]]Collections Inventory.[[underline]] Accelerated inventory efforts in all departments of the National Museum of Natural History have continued steadily, with substantial emphasis placed on collections or portions of collections whose relocations will be initiated immediately after the Center is completed. As of August 1, 1980, 90% of the shelf inventories of the Anthropology and 75% of the Sorting Center collections have been completed. With the added support provided by special inventory funds, more than 700,000 inventory records were computerized for the entire Museum during Fiscal Years 1979 and 1980.
