fairly busy most of the time but not as busy as I would have been if there had been no clouds. All I could do was fly time and heading and there was no need trying to fly an exact course because the ground was not visible. So I did have time to think. I wish I could recall all my thoughts but the near fatal events which happened later wiped most of them completely from my mind.

After approxmately three hours the clouds began to become thin and I could see some terrain through them, not very clearly but enough to occupy all my time trying to find my exact position and to get back course. There was very little time to think after that.
