June 13th and a Friday - started for Romorantin with Lt Irving Hall in an old Nieuport 23 meter and of course had a forced landing, due to a broken push rod, at Lo Ferte Saint Aubin about 40 kilometers [[strikethrough]] [[?]] [[/strikethrough]] from our destination. Had a fine little meal and a rest waiting to be joined by [[Freisen?]] who successfully ferried his old Liberty DH-4 over our heads.
Repeated the performance on the 14th this time in [[strikethrough]] [[?]] [[/strikethrough]] and old 18-meter Nieuport and landing at a French field at [[Elampes?]]. Looked all over this depot, [[inspected?]] a new idea, built by a French captain, for [[inclusion?]]
