It is not amiss here to relate the incidents that closed one of the most interesting, and surely the most educating, experience I've had so far in life.

I wanted to remain in France just as long as there was flying to be done in the American Air Service. So I didn't accompany my old 22nd Squadron home but remained at the First Air Depot with the 47th outfit until this place was washed out too. Then on special pilot duty at Orly field near Paris I remained until it was turned wholly over to the French, and, with all ships being crated and sent to the States [[illegible]]
