Miss Manila Davis,
#166 2nd Ave.,
New York, N. Y.

My dear Miss Davis:

Will you stand shoulder to shoulder with me in putting over a job this Spring which everyone wants done?

I have recently accepted the Chairmanship of The Salvation Army Annual Maintenance Appeal for $528,000 to take place May 18 - June 1, and I shall be most happy if you will give me your moral support and some of your time during the week of May 18th. We propose to erect at least one hundred colorful booths throughout the City in the theatres, hotels and stores, to catch the dimes and dollars and freewill offerings of people, like ourselves, who believe the work of this organization must go on.

May we count upon you to Captain a booth, or, if this is impossible, to give a few hours of your time during the week of May 18th. Full details of the work involved will be explained at a Tea meeting to be held the week previous to the opening of the campaign. Please give me your answer on the enclosed card.

In closing, let me say that I appreciate that you have already given generously of your time this year to the The Salvation Army during the Women's Emergency Aid Committee Campaign in December when that magnificent sum of $605,915.93 was raised so quickly through team organization for the relief of unemployment. We do not wish to impose on your generosity but the depression has imposed unprecedented conditions on The Salvation Army and their regular year-in year-out work must be provided for. For this reason, we must look to our old friends to stand by a little longer.

Sincerely Yours,
