I quit flying in mid 1922. That was before the "Air age" really began. At that time I never dreamed that aviation would become what it is today. I never flew from other than an over grown weed field - no asphalt - not even rolled or graded. I had no instruments - only an altimeter and a $1.00 watch. Most of my pilot friends had been killed in accidents by that time.

I never knew any other women who were interested in flying until Amelia came to my field in late 1920 and asked to be come a student. The Stinson girls and Ruth Law were early fliers in pushers but I never met them.

If you have any direct questions you would like to ask me I will try to answer them.

Sincerely,

Neta Southern
