his severe criticisms at times puzzle me. He seems to like poets, etc, that are "touching" - because of their innate goodness of heart, as Shaw and Jonson -- very much; and also violent action [[strikethrough]] etc [[/strikethrough]], as in murder stories. Well - this will ease, removing blocks from, tutorial; I was quite upset for a while over the ambivalence of his attitude.

I didn't see Anna, [[strikethrough]] being [[/strikethrough]] Maria & I both being overwhelmed with work. I can't next week because of the game. One thing quite sure -- this year will have to be the hardest work ever, to get into Harvard grad school. [[strikethrough]] As [[/strikethrough]] Bob said, one has to resign & give up most everything to grind. I did however join the madrigal society, which, won't waste time -- it meets at 4:30 on Sunday, so one can be home by supper: that was always slack time, after a hard day of work.

[[strikethrough]] Well, [[/strikethrough]] I'm glad you are enjoying Sundays - I wonder how you spent Wed?

Love,
Doris
