conference, Mrs Weatherby tells me - but I have not spoken it around.

Yesterday I got a big surprise, tho' not entirely a surprise -- my tutor asked me out (next Tuesday) -- on a topical subject: "Twelfth Night", given at a nearby theatre by the Harvard Dramatic Society. He is working [[strikethrough]] quite [[/strikethrough]] almost creatively on my thesis, which is a little annoying, but it keeps me working hard. He is a very shy person, so we are to dine with a friend & wife of his; [[strikethrough]] and [[/strikethrough]] I suppose the company of such a conglomeration of older, much more erudite persons, will be difficult to sustain, as used to be the case with Herby's friends. I am not speaking of it to anyone, least of all those in the hist-lit dept - don't you think that's wise? He has several other (girl) tutees whom I know.

Last night I had a baby job netting $2: & I may be the lady's regular worker. I had time to read half a book despite changing diapers
