by 2's. The girl lives down the hall - Rya Weickart - she came from near Leipzig 2½ yrs ago - [[strikethrough]] and [[/strikethrough] freshman - is [[strikethrough]] an [[/strikethrough]] a really nice girl of much more than freshman maturity; having lived through American and Russian occupation. Pretty brunette, poised, friendly.

Mabel doesn't think too much of her present instructors, but she [[strikethrough]] ll [[/strikethrough]] believes in getting the degree, & possibly studying elsewhere nights later. One thing that irks her particularly is a course in sewing she must take: a waste of time if ever. I told you her father had a job? on trucks. Not for high pay, but he's thankful, very. She felt awkward around the dorm, & nervous; but we get along quite well now ; & I'll do my best to get her to a □ [[square]] dance, she misses dates a lot.

No cold.

I'm running, over to Weatherby's now to pick up things. You don't see my 2 skirts (wool) in Va, do you? I couldn't find them in Stoughton, or my trunk here: but I shall look again in Stoughton.
