September 25, 1949 Dear folks, I'm leaving Grandma's in a few minutes w/ Mabel. The lawn needed mowing, especially where Dad cut away the rose bushes. Otherwise all is in order. I called Leon again & mentioned pay. Mabel's father didn't fix the bike, but he tells me what part to buy & I can in Cambridge. The Cohennas are moving it in Monday (no room in Mabel's car). Maud is as ever, but so fondly did she recall those pears that I & you had brought, (The nurse told me not to any more) that I had to promise to "send one express". Anna spent some of Sat showing me Durer prints, very interesting. Friday - Sat morn I worked very hard at [[Uidnes?]], reading 1 book. I saw my tutor Thursday & he gave more help & gave me the books I had asked him to get out. I ran into Harry & was glad to find he had passed in Law School & would thus be likely to finish there; he looked healthier than usual, had painted his family home that summer. Am now all settled in my room. It has been painted -- neutral green like our home living room: so the blue doesn't look bad; & there is a cherry blanket to put on the bed end: so the effect is cool & refreshing: and the sun will be there. I must get wild flowers or leaves; it is the prettiest room I have ever had; I have it arranged for great comfort. A great many of the old people are back here,
