June 3 Dear folks, With all your four-leaved clovers, I can't fail! The gal who flunked the hist-lit generals wasn't either of us panicky individuals, but a girl who is utterly self-assured most of the time. She's a friend of Joan Halper's, Joan's closest: it was very surprising. She won't have tutorial or a thesis next year, or honors. Have been working steadily without peace or worries, contrary to your imaginations. I only got a little worried yesterday morning when I discovered there was a reading period assignment in History, but I was able to do it of the morning. The other worry is of Guyon's paper: just as I am drawing it to a close (different people kindly helping type), I realize I didn't follow two of his special directions. The other paper I biked to Warening Wednesday. Out with Herb for two hours last night, after his study at Widener. Popular music he likes, of the musicals type, so we found a jukebox. I am sort of out of kilter after so many years of Bill. A [[strikethrough]] girl [[/strikethrough]] freshman in the dorms went to Western, was in Mr Struble's chem class with me, liked Eric Nordholm, & knew many of my friends! Jo Brown. Other people whose backgrounds popped up: Ann Ickes across the hall has a grandfather ... [[strikethrough]] J [[/strikethrough]] Sadja Stowkowski has a father (& she is one of the brightest gals here). Love, Doris
