Dear folks,

It looks very much as if the greenery were almost far along here. Lilacs are out. The mountains of magnolias are gone by. The horse chestnut will be out soon. Sunday I ran out to Grandma's for some notes (stayed about 10 minutes); & noted the marvelous way a red maple looks when unfolding: green ([[strikethrough]] stat [[/strikethrough]] pistillate?) knobs are red. Also are the apple tree [[strikethrough]] nex [[/strikethrough]] in the yard with a fair number of blossoms, & was hurridly informed that the little trees were all in bloom.

Generals are written: from 9:15 to 1:30 next Tue. I shall not have time enough to prepare properly: only 4 1/2 whole days. Today I must write a theme & study for a quiz for tomorrow. The theme. Mr Wanning most unfairly decided to talk about before we had written them: so there is little great impetus for discovery.

Bill called last night & I was [[strikethrough]] very [[/strikethrough]] gay in proportion to his despondency: he had just had an exam - was tired, had only 30ยข & no car (parked at school). Now things are quite reversed. Ha!

Your Va. income tax [[strikethrough]] took [[/strikethrough]] Monday, Dad! You are somewhat better than most theme writers, for whom the day traditionally ends at 5:00 P.M.

Love,
Doris
