Dear folks,

It has frosted here almost last night & is predicted for tonight.

"The Man Who Came to Dinner" (Fri) was not the play for Polly. Its references to sex in so light a manner offended her, she left in the middle without us. It really wasn't too funny, hardly worth its run. A small plot & 1000's of allusions to Hollywood. Paul is in a rather poor position -- he, untrained completely in psych, has hopes that Polly will be enough better next spring to go to Europe; that in time she will be able to marry. He had a psych grad gal to supper that night, & [[strikethrough]] late [[/strikethrough]] Sat in the Radcliffe lunchroom she confirmed my suspicions about his restrained hopes. She's afraid he won't be able to leave Polly, especially when Duffy leaves this summer.

Sat night made it clear to me that I shall not see Bill again for a long time. He was [[strikethrough]] not [[/strikethrough]] just indifferent, & I acted badly too. That makes things somewhat easier.
