When I am able to plan my life in a day or two I shall be most remarkable. One learns chiefly by example. I begin to see possibilities of teaching. Alice is going to push herself through medical school and be a psychiatrist, she has finally wrung out. That is financially impractical, altho it appeals to me. I am advised to attend some other grad school. I learn that long periods of discouragement over one's proposed work are very common; so I hope to come out of this one (which has never really ended and began at once) in time. Meanwhile I am working hard. Alice is engaged to Mr. Davis, as I said; Bob Garis is one of his two best friends, and approved of my work, [[strikethrough]] a [[/strikethrough]] tho' a very critical man. I have not spoken [[strikethrough]] too [[/strikethrough]] much of work because it has been so difficult especially with adjustment to Bill going on at the same time. I wish I could convince you that nothing done is to be regretted and I feel my attitudes towards all things maturing, hastened by this experience.
