and a horrible booming organ that was always off beat. But the St Matthew's Passion, if you ever may hear it, is truly wonderful, & the singers broke through themselves on that. We came out with notions of establishing a Bach [[strikethrough]] qu [[/strikethrough]] choir next year since there is nowhere else good to sing: & I think he can. I am so glad to be seeing him each night, days become so unrent with strife I can study well -- but for the sore thought that his girl arrives Friday, when I go out to Grandma (Sat). That is probably the best way to keep love alive, however.

Some very nice people are upon this floor, Alice Dash foremost. Small, dark, intense, shy-voiced. Wrote her thesis on Shakespeare; admired Mr. Dorius (he did too)-greatly too. I picked a west room & back.

What kind of exams Dol flunked you did not tell me -- how much they count. Of course that is only a [[strikethrough]] symptom [[/strikethrough]] sign of all.
