March 28, 1949 Dear folks, Has the library card come through? Is there a Sunday supplement picture of the cherries you could send? O.K. I have here referred to "NO SMOKING". What a time" Sat morning we went [[strikethrough]] hou [[/strikethrough]] through it, & then: there was a 50% [[strikethrough]] off [[/strikethrough]] slash in record prices all over town, so - we had no lunch save a candy bar, & at 4:30 came warily weighted out of the last store to stack large brown packages on the back seat. $23 for himself & $11 for the Lug. (name: Loyd [[Lloyd]] Lug?well). When Bill had proudly finished rearranging his albums in chronological order he was found to have 51 albums, or over $200 worth. The last store had everything he'd dreamed [[strikethrough]] off [[/strikethrough]] of, & for the first half hour he just wandered around writing them down and shaking his head in comic despair: and got them all. Really the chance before L. P. (long playing: which still costs about $20 to install). Very tired. I rested while he got groceries, - managed to last out the eve. Sunday I slept as long as possible, & after the first half (4:15: not on stage again till 7:15) I slept almost an hour while supper was being made. His tux (for evening finale) was very funny: of his father, the only whole piece on it was the front; the rest was in sheer tatters. He had the traditional trouble with his bow tie, - we were off.
