We went home & had another meal, about 11; working on a cross-word [[crossword]] puzzle the rest of the time, huddled over each other, joking; very gay. Bill was horrified when, as we drove up to Whitman, he discovered it 12:30. He was "shot to hell" as the popular descriptive statement goes, & shortly after the performance too; & 8:30 next morn -  I slept till 11:30. Nelson called up yesterday. I invited him to supper (tonight), & we'll go to a lecture tonight. After that (he leaves town) WORK. No see Bill till Sat. No nights out. Acres of time (ha) & WORK .
