Dear folks,

Lots of news you have given me. I'm afraid I don't have much of anything new. The history-lit conference on Hookes came to an end yesterday with everybody deciding that they could not possibly justify the choice of Hookes for all of two afternoon sessions (after only one on Shakespeare for example); in fact, he was only chosen by somebody on the history-lit board who was working on him, & forced on the rest, who, never having read Hookes, could find no immediate objections!

Today Bill & I are going to spend together -- this afternoon he'll pick me up, I'll help in groceries, & then in the evening we'll go to a play. (Study in the afternoon, I have a paper).

The optician will charge $14 for glasses (not counting bill of the prescriber). I don't know whether or not to. I can't see at all well in movies or on the blackboard, & have always to sit in the front row, so perhaps I should. I'll leave it up to you, I told him I would call if. So.

Love,
Doris

Don't know why "prescriber" is underlined in red, as though something is wrong with the word.
