February 23

1978 - Thursday - 20° at 6:45. Sunny. TR came while we were at breakfast! Wes went to Danbury to pick up shoe forms from podiatrist - he had a haircut. 
 We took our china from livingroom secretary in preparation for paint job.  I had a haircut and shopped for fruit at Stop & Shop.  I cut out a terry cloth cover up.  We viewed new slides - couple from our trip to New Hampshire in June.

1979 - Friday - 24º at 6: AM and cloudy - high was 34º - not bad but damp and we felt cold.  To Mass.  To New Canaan to pick up samples of fabric and wallpaper from Country Fabrics - shopped at Grand Central Cheese Shop, and Flannery Texaco to fill car.  Home for lunch and hobbying.  Drawer guides arrived and Wes repaired desk drawer.

1980 - Saturday. at Treasure Cay- Beautiful day.  Walked beach in morning - sat on terrace to read and embroider.
After lunch walked again - went swimming - saw dolphins.
To 5 o'clock Mass - bus came at 5:20.

1981 - Monday. 36º at 6:30.  Cloudy.  The male Mallards are chasing other females away.
Hobby hour then to bank to straighten out service charge (an error) Basics and Green Electric to look for electric fixtures - so much junk.  Lunch and nap and to [[?Pogres]] to move wood chips to back.  Rain started and sent us home.  Called Wright on tree cutting and spraying.  Albano phoned prices on kitchen appliances

1982 - Tuesday - 22º at 6:30. Clear! Became cloudy quickly.  Some sunshine 2-5 pm but cold and windy.  I went to Hawsie Nash's for Village Improvement Committee meeting.  Wes worked in shop.  Well drilling finished - 2 1/2 gals. and the depth is 210 feet.  Wrote up W77 and Wayside orders and Vicks Wildflowers.  Wes split wood. Watched Ivanhoe in evening.


February 24

1978- Friday - 8º at 6 AM. Clear but felt cold, windy and damp - high 36º. To 7:30 Mass. Wes picked up new contact lens in Brewster. I did a wash. We laid all clothes for trip in guestroom. I sewed on terry coverup.

Tentative contract reached Miners & owners.
N.Y. Philharmonic having fund drive on WQXR.

1979 - Saturday - 34º at 6 AM - Raining - heavy at times during night - off and on and light - fog. To 7:30 Mass. Left at 8:45 for Eileen's - from there to Westchester Supply where Wes bought mats for shop and I bought a Silver Stone frypan - to Lord & Taylor - Wes exchanged birthday shirt - to Deli for nuts, ham, chutney- to Mary's for lunch - back to Eileen's for Primula [[?]]- agapanthus - rolls etc. Home at 5 pm - Mrs Wheeler ill, so tomorrow's party cancelled. Chased geese from lawn.

1980 - Sunday - at Treasure Cay - Beautiful day Discovered water off at breakfast time - luckily enough we kettle to make coffee. Water on again at 9 o'clock.
Warmest day so far - walked beach - swam - read - lunch - nap - another walk. Saw dolphins or manta ray again - difference of opinion in onlookers.

1981 - Tuesday - 47º at 6 AM - Cloudy AM. Clear in afternoon. To Mass. Hobby hour in morning. Went to Bogas property with Reid Wright and discussed trees to be trimmed and cut down and the spraying. Checked our blueberries and raspberries - look good. Overflow well area needs fill - banks on front pond need repair. To Sattlers at 5:30 for drinks. Mike Mannion phoned for plumbing & kitchen prices

1982 - Ash Wednesday - 28º at 6:15 - Partly cloudy - cold dreary day - some flurries - a hard winter in its lack of sunny days. To 7:30 Mass in church - took Gizella. Alice Castle took Gizella and me to Doris Duke Gardens in Somerset N.J. - eleven gardens under glass. Home at 4:30. Wes had worked in shop. Put door fan between den and kitchen doors - tried spilling heat from fireplace in evening.
Well drilling equipment removed - almost looks bare without it. NY Times not delivered - Wildcat strike
