June 2

1978 - Friday - 58º at 6:30 Lovely morning - beautiful day - sunny & breezy - cool at night. To Mass. To Nutmeg for oil - inquired about repairing & putting small tractor up for sale - to cleaners, liquor, Stop & Shop - Cricket Cage for birthday present for Eileen - gasoline - left gavel at Anne Tracy's - finished cutting all grass after lunch - Wes opened pond pump to look for leak - I replanted cucumbers - beets & carrots. Jule here for dinner at 6 pm.

1979 - Saturday - 54º at 6 AM - Cloudy - sun out only a short time - rather dreary day - damp - no rain. T 7:30 Mass. I went for hair-do at 9:30. bought groceries and liquor afterwards.
Trimmed hemlock at lamp post. Wes edged bench Moraine - put sod at dam - fixed white chair on stones - I cultivated perennial garden - zuchini and Beets coming up.

1980 - Monday - 64º at 6 AM - Warm & humid - hazy. Thunderstorm at 2:30 AM. Only .15 inch - Rain later in Ridgefield and a storm at evening, but none here.
Did chores - bank deposit - Calders for oil - bought glass / brass box for Eileen's birthday at Cricket Cage - few groceries - charcoal. Home for lunch - nap. cleaned off roof valleys - swept terrace - sprayed small spruces when discovvered worms eating them. (Took papers to recycling)

1981 - Tuesday - 56º at 6 AM - Light rain - only about 1/4 inch but gloomy and cold - had a fire in the den at night - did put heat on once.
House and shop chores. Shopped Basics - put CPC stock certificate - split - and Bogus Warranty deed in safety deposit box  - Nels TV to measure Sony. Met Mike and Mr. Gerard of St Charles [[? Tatcheus]] at 1 pm of Bogles to measure & Mike & Wes & I also discussed area fireplace wall. Did trimming and deadheading.

1982 - Wednesday - 58º at 6 AM. Raining - 3/4 inch rain when shopped in morning. To bank, Sears - bought gas grill - had tank filled - came home with it. To Ridgefield - liquor store - Stop & Shop to buy apricots for Eileen's birthday - cleaners - Pinchbeck for Melorganite - lawn looks weak. Lunch - nap - Golf 2:30 - 4:30. Wes had good game - lots of people. Wes started assembling gas grill - I spread 3 bags of chips.

June 3

1978 - Saturday - 60º at 6 AM - Cloudy - light rain off ad on during day - at 4 pm .40 inches - heavier after dinner - (total 1.20 inc at 8 AM 6-4).
Rain interrupted outdoor work - Wes repaired pond pump line - after one disappointment, stopped leak. I trimmed - cut off Jacob's Ladder - Candytuft - weeded - Looked up herb books and garden books for names plants boughtTool Shed last week.

1979 - Sunday - To 8 o'clock Mass - first one - nice and quiet! Final preparation for my trip to Garden Club America meeting in Milwaukie - early lunch - left at 12 o'clock - picked up Vera Neligan - to new lanaau for limousine at 1:30. to La Guardia - North Central Airline Flight 355 - left on time - in rain and fog - flew in sunshine over Lake Erie - Lake Michigan - landed 5:15 local time - to Marc Plaza Hotel - Wes had dinner with Helen and Alex at 5:30 - phoned him at 10 o'clock.

1980 - Tuesday - 60º at 6 AM - Foggy - some light rain in morning - .30 inch. Did wash - drafter Horticultural Report - Wes worked in shop - He went to bank for cash. After lunch cut al grass - just finished when thunder and more light rain here. We are missing the heavy thunderstorms around us.
Picked asparagus and first broccoli. Wes cultivated raspberries and blueberries.

1981 - Wednesday: 56º at 6 AM - Cloudy - rain in evening - .30 in gauge Thurs morning
Planted flower seeds in garden - picked asparagus lettuce and onions for Eileen. Took [[?]] verum and iris cristata to Bogus. To Eileen's at 3 o'clock. She and I went to Texaco Forum 30th Anniversary. Cocktail party at [[?] Golf Club - Wes took Mary's birthday presents to her - we all net at 7 o'clock for dinner at Eileen's. Home at 10:30. Phoned Dr Williamson re pap test - negative.

1982 - Thursday - 46º at 5:45. Sun coming up behind big tree at right side of living room deck.
Wes continued assembling gas grill & finished in afternoon - wanted Vargas to try it.
I shopped Basics. Cultivated garden - planted more lettuce - had to put some on compost.
Cut grass on east end. Saw Ring Neck Dove.
Vargas here at 6 pm - steaks were good and cooking was easy. Rained at dinnertime - .15 INCH
