September 14 1978 Thursday - 36° at 7 AM. degrees at 7am - Beautiful day. Pat Molles[[guess]] here 8 - 2 -- cleaned well balance of house. Wes painted south end of garage - I painted the two windows there and fixed (glazed) windows on north side. Polished den brass. Wes took laundry to Nutmeg - picked up literature on Snapper and Lawnboy. 1979 - Friday - 70° at 6 AM. - Dark. Hurricane Frederic's freezers[[guess]] - said Buffalo had 4 inches rain. 110 Mallards - Wes counted them! Winds all day - thunderstorm about 8 o'clock - 2/10 inch. Wes did shop work after taking in hanging sheets account wind. I cooked for Sally & Barbara - here at 5:30 for the night. I had new cap put on at 1:30 (tooth) by Dr. Yanety. Wes bought corn & groceries - Ron Newberg here to discuss covers for diningroom chairs 1980 - Sunday - 68° at 6 :15 - cloudy - partly sunny later - thunderstorm at 4 pm - 1/4 inch To 8 o'clock Mass. Leisurely day - read papers. Made ratatouille - painted garage windows (south) just before rain. Steven Grouse came - would sell one lot on Bogie - we will walk it but it isn't the one we are interested in. 1981 - Monday - 60° at 6 AM - Sun 6:35-7:01 Warm and very humid day. Back to clean and water. Shopped "Stop and Shop" bananas and cooked sliced ham. To recycling with papers and bottles. Hazy sun at noon. 74 degrees Watered all gardens. To Vargas at 6:15 pm for dinner. Pleasant evening - home at 9:15 p. E in Dublin - [[?]] trip to Gray on Coast - Glendalough - "Meeting of Waters" - To Abbey Tavern for dinner and fresh Ballocts[[guess]]. September 15 1978 - Friday - 57° at 7 AM - Cloudy - light rain - heavy in spots enroute city - Wes had 10:45 & 11:45 appointments with Drs. Baer & Prichner - Blood pressure 120/80 - perfect. To Bloomingdales White Plains for lunch and bought Or[[?]] wineglasses - Illusion Pattern - brown cardigan for Wes. Home at 5pm - picked strawberries - zucchini & some beans - couple tomatoes - only 2/10 inch rain here 1979 - Saturday - 54° at 6 AM - clear - beautiful cool day. Kelly & Barbara here - left at 9 o'clock for Massachusetts - Barbara's school. Did couple washes. Pulled up winter squash plants - had gone 30 feet into brush Pole beans fell down in storm yesterday. Tied arbor - vitae over big bridge. Storm had broken ropes. Trimmed tops. Mowed across both bridges - below barn - west end - back and side of house. 1980 - Monday - 60° at 6:30 - Cloudy - some sunshine - cool breeze. To Bogus Road to walk property. not bad - need exact points. Stopped at Elinor house - she gave Wes maps - will return with [[?]]. early lunch - West had 1pm date Dr. Yanity[[guess]] - tooth filled - doesn't hold plate too well. I worked in perennial garden - lots of deadheading. Wes dug up big day lily clump - separated. Will give some to Polly Farelli. Put shutters back on garage front. 1981 - Tuesday. 65° at 6:30 - too dark to see the thermometer at 6AM. Warm - humid - light rain off and on. To Mass. Mike worked indoors - put bottom cove in kitchen - doorknob on linen closet - changed other knobs to round ones. Jimmy & Howard installed Powder Room railway lamps and Hook & Ladder over front door. I had a haircut - talked to Tax Assessor on [[?]] over exemption - left tax bill at Freeman's. Wes bought hand saw at Sears - No kitchen table at Henry Deed. 1982 Wednesday 56° Foggy - cleared at noon. Worked in shop 'till noon. Worked outside during afternoon. To Ross's for dinner at 6PM. Pleasant evening - invited again for next Wednesday. Home at 9:30P G in Ireland - Dublin to Waterford - Then Co. Kildare beautiful farm country - cattle - sheep - horses - then Kilkenny - lunch at [[?]] Tavern - tour Beebler Castle - on to Waterford - Ardree Hotel - beautiful site over river and city - purple furniture and rugs.
