September 18

1978- Monday- 62° at 7 AM- cloudy- about 48 ducks. Camp David peace summit announcement gives hope for peace. Light rain off and on during day.
To Ticketron Bethel - line for King Tut tickets - waited 3 hours to obtain 4 for Tuesday, Jan. 16 at 11 AM. Home for lunch - Eileen phoned she unable to get tickets in White Plains. Wes worked on Historic Society report. I made almond cookies for Oct 6th Garden tour. To Women's Club meeting at Ann Primano's at 8 pm - picked up Cathy Ghee Gizela and Helen Ross - home at 10:30. Wes shot 2 muskrats in afternoon.

1979. Tuesday - 45° at 6:30 - Fair - 117 ducks. Left at 8:30 for 9:45 appointment Dr Weidel - just made it. I was in good shape - Home at 11:30 after shop at Marcus. Wes had haircut - bought lumber for Cutting's box. I made dinner. Wes cut lawn and prepared terrace for replanting miniature garden box. Alex & Helen here at 4 o'clock for that job. In middle of it Edith Miffley phoned - trough had to be stone & 20" in diagonal- too bad. Ron Nurenberg brought samples for diningroom chairs

1980 - Thursday - 64° at 6 AM - Rained during night - 1.3 inches of welcome rain. To Mass. Wes had shop hour. Shopped for corn at Agway, Meekers Bethel Cheese - gasohol. Golf 1:30 / 3:30. George Verthers & son here to work on cellar door. We sanded garage doors - terrible job. I deadheaded hosta. Picked zucchini - one melon. Threw out inside melon plants - summer squash.

1981 - Friday - 56° at 6:30 light rain over night. Overcast all day. Mike and Lee (Carpenter) worked on deck - it is going to hide our good view of rocks from windows. Put pad under rug runner - hung two pictures in den - to bank - shopped Basics - Meekers drugstore - cleaned up top of rock at North side pulled small blueberry bushes from rock at cliff - cut north grass -- Wes put up rain gauge - first fire in den.

Some animal knocked over the strawberry jar - no harm Boo and I have made the halfway mark - thank God Became overcast in PM No rain unfortunately. Watered part of garden To McKeon's for dinner Real informal
G in Ireland - Parknasilla to Domoland Castle. Toured Muckross House - beautiful garden - in by horse [[?]] cart - thru County Limerick - village of Adare with thatched roof cottages - to Dromoland Castle - beautiful

September 19

1978 - Tuesday - 52° at 7 AM - Light rain - heavy during night - 1.4 inches - cleared in afternoon - cool all day. Vee Grenier, window washer here 10/12 hours - put on cleaned sunroom windows on washed windows.
I had a haircut at 2 pm. Wes worked on his Survey Historic Ridgebury. Picked up Wes' watch from Mr. Bauks .. Picked strawberries - beans (last?) couple zucchini

1979 - Wednesday - 58° at 6:30. Cloudy. Had light shower during night - became beautiful fall day.
Cleaned up terrace of plants, soil, furniture - admired miniature garden box - planted miniature sedum, [[? semperoviun]] and veronica in back dwarf garden. Left at noon for Atchley - Wes had 1:30 and 2:30 dates with Drs Baer & Pruiner - Blood pressure 130/180 - come back 6 months - no change in prostate - come back 1 year. Home at 5 pm - Dinner - To 8 o'clock town meeting at Mary Luke's request - library referendum Sept 29. o bed at 9:30.

1980 - Friday - 45° at 6:30. Clear. Wes fed duck family (6) quite tame - three of them flew from bank into pond so they are learning to fly. Wes had shop hour - then to Marcus & bank. I cultivated perennial garden - transplanted small alliums. Picked up Helen and went to 11 o'clock service or Bob Coller at St Stephen's - then to lunch at Pat's - lots of friends there. Home at 1:30 - Wes had edged & cultivated below ongaro wall. Golf 3 - 5. George Verthers finished cellar door. Martha Crewe cancelled her 4 pm visit.

1981 - Saturday - 50° at 7 AM - Light rain during night - just a trace. John Oliver here at 9:30 to talk about plumbing - will start in two weeks. John Corrie - Jodie Mannion's Father - came to fix Grandfather clock - has never sounded so well. Hung big mirror in bedroom - moved chests in there. Had first fire in livingroom at cocktail time - another in den for dinner- that keeps room warm. Saw 2 Goldfinch

1982 - Sunday 46° 6 AM Clear Very dark now at 6 AM Joan & Hooker called - looking forward to Oct get-together. Left for Bronxville at 11:30 Joan & Mike Mannion invited me to dinner but to regret. Home by 4:15 Watered gardens.
G in Ireland - Dromoland Castle - To 8 o'clock Mass - bus at 11:30 to Bunratley Castle - bought Irish Hat - Cliffs of Moha - Burreu - stark barren ground - wild flowers area - Midieval Banquet at Cnappogue Castle - good singers and harp - terrible dinner and show.
