November 3

1978 - Friday - 30° at 6AM - clear - Put out corn Tray - white ducks came in - not here yesterday - we're going to plant barberry at fence line!

Wes cleared space for expected delivery of fill this morning - never arrived.

I split variegated spider plant - put out first bird feeder raked leaves in back. Played golf 1-3:30 - beautiful on course. Wes put fence around blueberries.

1979 - Saturday - 52° at 6 AM. Watched Mallards fly in - Wes had put out corn. To 7:30 Mass. Paid bills - did house chores - walked. Took Greigii tulips to Ada Franken. Shopped Stop & Shop & wine. Rain in morning - Wes cancelled Joe Taller. Nap after lunch.

I made brownies - leek and potato soup - chicken liver pate, using Ginger's recipe. Wes worked in shop. 

Had fire in den in evening - much colder - cleared.

1980 - Monday - 20° at 6:30. Mostly clear - lots of ducks, sitting on legs waiting for corn.

Wes picked up pump - pulled back dam - brought in outdoor hoses - cleaned gutters - went to bank and to drug store for eye drops.

I worked at Red Schoolhouse for hour - had haircut - to stationary store for envelope - cartridges for glue gun - home for lunch - finished clearing out perennial garden - raked leaves below ongaro wall with Wes.

1981 - Tuesday. Election Day. 44° at 6 AM. Fair not as warm as yesterday but a lovely day. To Mass. Voted - to Stop & Shop - left blue sofa pillow cover at cleaners - I had a haircut - bought work shoes a Chambers - bedroom clock and container for vacuum tools at Caldors - home for lunch - put second coat of paint on outside front door - varnished trim and mantel surround in livingroom. Wes continued stripping sod from turn-around.

1982 - Wednesday - 60° at 6:30. Foggy - cloudy all day - Weecher [[Weicker]] and O'Neil elected in Conn.

To Greenwich at 9 AM - Brought sandwiches - to Odalia Oriental Rug Co. - looked at rugs - made selections for trial. Fred Rashtian followed us home - tried rugs in place - bought Kashan for dining room - Kerman runner - Mir Sarouk and Nair small rugs - he took our Tabriz and Sarouk for sale. Went to Bank to make transfer from Savings to Checking - Raked leaves from deck and walk as rain predicted for tomorrow.

November 4

1978 - Saturday - 38° at 6 AM. Foggy, most cloudy damp; miserable day - not good for outdoor work but Wes raked leaves around house - finished fence around blueberries - puts oak leaves there. I made chocolate cake and chocolate roll for Bishop leeiti [[laity]] coming tomorrow for confirmation. After lunch we took tall back wood chair to Georgetown for refinishing - had Bernina foot pedal adjusted at Appelashear shop - Wes bought new watch strap. Groceries at Grancentral. To 5 pm Mass.

1979 - Sunday - 30° at 6 AM. Clear - beautiful day. To 8 o'clock Mass. Polished all copper in latches - looks great. Pulled the garlic - very few this year but last year had too many which didn't keep.

To Apples, Peach Lake for brunch. Interesting, informal place, pleasant service. Chestnut Hill Road very bad and home via Route 6 - Saw Mill Road repaved at end. Nap. Wes in shop. I finished potting tulips for cold frame - planted 10 President Kennedy tulips under front bird feeder.

1980 - Tuesday - Election Day - 44° at 5:45 - Clear early morning - rain - light - at ten o'clock.

Voted at Seatland School before Mass at 7:30. Mike Dellman Engineer for septic system here at 8:30 - walked Bogus property with Mike Maunion - decided to hold off on Bedeni digging poles until Dellman can be present. Indoor work rest of day. Long nap. To Carol and Bill Stoddard's at 8:30 for election returns. Reagan easily defeated Carter - Buckley lost.

1981 - Wednesday - 39° at 6 AM. Beautiful sunrise perfect day. Picked up repaired Honda - on to Conn. Stone in Orange for Belgian Block and Flagstone selection - will deliver tomorrow - to Rosedale for path lamps had only one - ordered two - home for lunch - Wes finished stripping sod from turn-around - I cut grass and raked leaves - Wes rearranged big stones in bog garden bank. Tony Augaro comes - he will help move flagstone for walk.

1982 - Thursday - 61° at 6 AM. Foggy - light rain part of day until night when it was light rain but steady. To Mass. To the bank for cash and to buy a six months certification - liquor store - recycling - home. House chores - wash, etc. - Wes in shop. - I did some needlepoint in afternoon - made a cake in the microwave oven.

Busiest day ever on Wall Street - down 15 points after the big day and biggest climb yesterday.
