Foreword

In presenting this revised Text Book of Beauty and Culture, The Madam C.J. Walker Manufacturing Company has drawn on the experience of the teachers in its many schools of beauty culture, consulted with the authorities in all the branches covered and has sought to present this combined knowledge in the most understandable way. It must be realized, however, that this book is not designed to teach the theory and practice of beauty culture outside the class room, because obviously, like any professional treatise, the information contained herein can best be understood and translated into practice when interpreted and further explained by our teachers.

The fundamentals of beauty culture are very much the same, irrespective of system, but the technique may vary in different schools and individual operators. If our students and agents will master the basic methods covered herein they will find them sufficiently flexible and adaptable to the requirements of whatever beauty shop in which they may find employment.

Great use may be made of this book for a long time and it is our hope that all who secure a copy will learn to use it as a ready reference book and handy guide in solving the problems of every day practice, to the end that Mme. C.J. Walker graduates may continue in their enviable position of leadership.
