5. VIBRATORY, the gentle agitation of the tissues. Done by placing the finger tips on the skin and making short circular movements without sliding over the skin. Also done with the electric vibrator.

KINDS OF MASSAGE:

1. Plain massage with the palms or the finger tips.
2. Vibratory massage, with the vibrator.
3. High frequency massage, with the Violet Ray.
4. Faradic current massage.
5. Hydro vacuum or Electrolytic cup massage.
6. Radio Bell with vari-colored bulbs.
7. Packs.
8. Bleaches.

MOVEMENTS USED IN FACIAL MASSAGE

1. Rotary movement with the finger tips or palms on the neck.
2. Rotary movement with one palm on the forehead and one at the back of the neck.
3. Rotary movement on the chin.
4. Rotary movement to mould the cupid's bow.
5. Rotary movement from the corners of the mouth to the corners of the nose, ironing across the expression lines.
6. Rotary movement to fill the cheeks.
7. Rotary movement on the lobes of the nose.
8. Rotary movement for the scowling lines between the eyes.
9. Rotary movement or washboard movement, with the finger tips, over the lines in the forehead around to the crow's feet at the corners of the eyes.
10. Rotary movement with the palms over the eyes, moving the eyeball.
11. Rotary movement to lift the muscles in the face.
12. Movement to strengthen the neck.

MOVEMENTS EXPLAINED

1. Place both hands on the neck, under the chin and  massage gently with the palms of the hands, under the chin, back to the ear and around the back of the neck, massaging down between the shoulders.

2. (a) Grasp the muscles firmly on either side of the neck. Relax and bend the head so that head rests upon the hands. This movement removes the tension from the brain.

(b) With one hand upon the forehead and one at the back of the neck, press firmly. Pressure over the forehead at the temples and at the base of the brain removes the tension and relieves headache.

3. For blackheads in the groove of the chin. With the balls of the thumbs, rub across the groove in the chin, alternating first with one thumb and then another across the groove.

4. To mould the cupid's bow. First place the first finger of the left hand in the cupid's bow and with the second finger and the thumb of the left hand massage from the corner of the mouth to the cupid's bow.

5. The Expression lines. With the palms of the hands, massage across the lines from the corner of the nose, ironing out the expression lines, moving outward, around and upward across the lines.

6. Movement to fill the cheeks. Pinch the flesh gently between the fingers and the thumbs, rotating around and upward until the skin is warm and soft from the increased circulation.

7. Reducing the nose and softening the blackheads. With the second fingers of each hand, hold the nose firmly while massaging the lobes of the nose, where the blackheads are usually seen, with the first fingers of both hands.

8. Movement for the scowling lines. Wit the palms of the hands, massage over the lines between the eyes in 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 counts. Spread the palms over the lines in the forehead and massage around to the crow's feet at the corners of the eyes.
