THE MADAM C.J. WALKER SCHOOLS base. Complete the facial with the desired shade of Madam C.J. Walker's Face Powder. VIBRATORY MASSAGE Begin the same as in the plain massage, cleansing the face first with Madam C.J. Walker's Cleansing Cream, applying the hot towels and then, after removing the cleansing cream, applying Madam C.J. Walker's Cold Cream. After the cold cream has been applied, use the vibrator, going over the face with the vibrator just as you would with the finger tips. Cover the eyelids with the fingers and apply the vibrator through your fingers. Finish as in plain massage, using Madam C.J. Walker's Vanishing Cream and the desired shade of Madam C.J. Walker's Face Powder. FARADIC CURRENT MASSAGE This massage is given for dry skins. It is to correct wrinkles and build up the tissues. The best results are obtained by forcing Madam C.J. Walker's Cleansing Cream into the skin with the red bulb of the Radio Bell Light. Remove the cream with cotton pads. Apply Madam C.J. Walker's Cold Cream and use the roller appliance from the Faradic current to iron out wrinkles at the lines of the mouth, over the forehead and at angles of the eyes. Next, put the plumper into the hollows of the cheeks. The suction will be very beneficial to sunken cheeks.Complete this massage by covering the roller with ice packs and go over the lines of the face. Finish the patron for the street by applying Madam C.J. Walker's Vanishing Cream and Madam C.J. Walker's Face Powder. ELECTROLYTIC CUP MASSAGE The Electrolytic Cup Massage has been found to be excellent for cleansing the pores and permitting the skin to breath freely. Its constant forcing of the cream into the tissues is very helpful. It is advisable to wash the pores out occasionally by forcing warm solution underneath the outside skin by suction from the Electrolytic Cup. This treatment is very successful in treating skin eruptions and diminishing large pores and clearing muddy complexions. If the patron has an unusually sensitive skin, place one quart of warm water and four tablespoons of boric acid powder into the tank which is used in connection with the Electrolytic Cup. A soda solution will relieve tan and an alum solution is of great assistance in treating cases of sallow complexions. A salt solution will increase the circulation at all times. 248 TEXT BOOK OF BEAUTY CULTURE The Electrolytic Cup, as explained in the chapter on Electricity, is used in connection with the electric wall plate. In giving massages with the Electrolytic Cup, first apply Madam C. J. Walker's Cold Cream to the face and open the eruptions with a sterilized needle or sterilized sharp end of the comedone extractor. Then run the water or solution over the face with the suction cup. Always complete this massage with the same procedure as in plain massage, applying Madam C. J. Walker's Vanishing Cream and Madam C. J. Walker's Face Powder. TREATMENT FOR DRY SKIN 1. Cleanse the skin with cream. 2. Remove cream with cotton or facial tissues. 3. Apply Mme. C. J. Walker's Tissue Cream: Muscle Oil about the eyes. 4. Apply cotton pads to the eyes. 5. Apply strong red light of therapeutic lamp for 10 minutes. 6. Apply the violet ray for 10 minutes, keeping it in motion all the while. 7. Apply turkish towel wrung from warm or tepid water. 8. Make mask of cotton, saturate with witch hazel or astringent lotion and lay over surface for 5 minutes. 9. Remove, blot dry with facial tissues or pat dry with finger tips. 10. Apply Madam C. J. Walker's Vanishing Cream or other foundation cream. 11. Apply make-up lightly. Note- See olive oil mask. TREATMENT FOR OILY SKIN AND BLACKHEADS- 1. Apply Madam C. J. Walker's Cleansing Cream. 2. Remove lightly with facial tissues. 3. Scrub the face with a soft facial brush dipped in hot water and Mme. C. J. Walker's Beauty Soap, castile, or other medicated soap. 4. Rinse the skin well. 5. Apply cleansing cream liberally. 6. Cover with 3 or more hot towels or expose to the electric steamer for 10 minutes. 7. Remove the cream with soft towel, cotton or tissues. 8.
