DESKAIDE * THE SILENT SECRETARY * 1942

JANUARY 24
SATURDAY 

Fair. I stayed home. I started on my scarf in red, brown, & yellow. I started in brown. I skated a lot in the afternoon. I knitted 10 rows of dark brown today.

JANUARY 25 SUNDAY
Fair. We stayed home. I knitted 16 rows of brown, then 10 of red then 1 of brown and 8 of yellow.  My record - 35 rows in 1 day. Eddy Graff is going to enlist in the navy on Wednsday [[Wednesday]] - he goes away then. He gave us 2 [[crossed out]] aquariums [[/crossed out]] aquaria - 1 smaller than mine & 1- 4 in. longer, 1 inch higher & 1 inch wider!!! The small one has 2 gold fish & 1 snail & shells in it (big water snail) & goldfish are 1 small orange one with a little white & 1 large white one with few small spots orange- both have large "flowing" fins & 3 cups fish food - French's, tropical no. 2 (I have no. 3, [[?]] no. 2) & Justrite. He gave us 1 box of food - preserves, etc &  1 avocado plant & 1 [[panse?]]plant [[?]] & goblet belonging to Hugo
