States for ISY and recommended the formation of similar groups in other regions which would hopefully share the information with each other and with the public. 

Harvey Meyerson mentioned that the US-ISY Association is in the process of putting together a mailing list of U.S. organizations which do not regularly participate in space activities. One goal of the outreach is to broaden the base of support for space science. 

The Chairman recalled that television programs devoted to ISY were briefly discussed in Durham and suggested it might be worthwhile to seriously consider them.

Next SAFISY Meeting

Roger Bonnet offered that ESA would host the 1989 SAFISY meeting sometime in the spring. Carlo Buongiorno suggested that Frascati, Italy, would be an ideal choice. 

It was recommended that Japan, the Soviet Union, and the United States host the 1990, 1991, and 1992 SAFISY meetings, respectively. 

The Chairman suggested that the Panels of Experts meet concurrently with regularly scheduled scientific meetings such as COSPAR and IAF, to the extent practicable. 

Closing

The Chairman concluded the meeting by noting that progress had been made in bringing the space agencies and scientific organizations together in the planning for ISY.
