Acknowledges receipt of S.O. #55 Par 2 dated April 14th 1867 assinging him to duty as Supt of Education State of Va. States that the care of schools and establishing of others will require frequent journeys to different parts of the states, and requests to be furnished with an order for that purpose asks instructions regarding the manner to be observed in preparing vouchers for expenses of Ed. Dept. Requests authority to employ a messenger at $20 per mo to take care of office. |

One at Port Magruder and One at Yorktown which he recommends turned over to F.F. Assn. of Philadelphia. All the above named buildings are on land owned by private parties. |
