EDWARD S. HULL, JR.,
ATTORNEY AND COUNSELLOR AT LAW,
31 NASSAU STREET.
TELEPHONE: 1317 CORTLANDT.

NEW YORK, September 2nd, 1898.

C.L. Freer, Esq.,
33 Ferry Avenue, Detroit, Mich.

My dear Mr. Freer:

Your favor of August 31st, with check for $600, voucher and list enclosed, duly received. I note that by the voucher and list, and also check, the books with the discount taken off amount to $600, but if I remember correctly this was not the sum agreed upon by us for the books selected. If you will remember, you offered me $600 for the lot, but that I said the least I could accept would be $650, to which you replied that as that was the smallest sum I would accept you would make it such sum. You also spoke of it in the warehouse when you offered me $50 for No. 617; you said "I will give you $50 and make it a round $700 for the lot." I think that with these facts you will recollect that $650 was the sum agreed upon by us.

I return the voucher and the memorandum containing the numbers and prices with your discounts marked thereon, for correction. In making out a new voucher, I wish that you would make it out as $400 for the number selected, exclusive of No. 265, and $250 for No. 265; and also $50 for No. 617, making in all $700. I note what you say about No. 617 being $100 instead of $150, so I will accept your offer of $50.
