Dear Mr. Coffin:--

Mr. William T. Evans of New York has asked for the Whistler Nocturne "Bognor", and Dewing's "Lady in Blue Gown" for his forthcoming Lotus Club Exhibition. I am forced to decline to loan the Whistler, but after consulting Dewing, I have agreed to let him have "The Lady in Blue Gown". Will you, therefore, kindly have it forwarded to Mr. Evans, along with the other pictures which are to go to him from your exhibition.

With best wishes,
Very truly yours,
Charles L Freer

William A. Coffin, Esq.,
Director of Fine Arts, Pan-American Exposition,
