once more. I expect to be in Detroit much of the time during January, February and March, next, and would be happy to entertain you in my bachelor home, and show you my little group of the "master's" work .

I appreciate your invitation to look you up when in New York, and shall take pleasure in doing so at the first opportunity.

That exchange of hats at one time embarrassed me considerably, but I now consider it a most fortunate occurrence, for it will, doubtless, be the means of bringing about an acquaintance which I have long desired. 

Col. Hecker is out of town to-day, but I am sure that if he were here he would be happy to make me the bearer of pleasant messages to you.
