Motonobu's work. While in Paris recently, I bought one exquisite specimen of Motonobu's work. Professor Fenollosa, who has been here two weeks lately, was very much pleased with the Motonobu I bought.

I also bought, while in England, a large collection of kakemono, makemono and albums. In the lot, there is a considerable number of extremely fine things. There are also some specimens in the collection which duplicate works already in my collection, so I shall have quite a lot of interesting things to dispose of. You will be very much amused when you see them.

I shall not send you a long letter to-day, as I fancy you will soon be starting for Detroit. 

Before closing, I would say that I have seen the painting which Mr. Tryon did for you. It is a masterpiece and one that will surely please you. I will write him to-day, telling him that if he wants the $1,000.00 now, I will send the same to him, or, if he has no use for the money, I am sure he will be perfectly willing to wait until after you return home. Everything he painted last winter was grabbed up before the paint was dry, and I don't think he is in need of money - in fact, I think he will be perfectly willing to wait until you return home.
