Dear Colonel Hecker,
you will see by the above date, that my visit here did not end at the time named in my cablegram of last week. A number of things prevented, especially interviews with Hamdy Beys Director of the Imperial Museum and Chief of Antiquities and Archeology for the Turkish Empire. A powerful official, in fact, all powerful in his department and a most charming gentleman!
My interviews with him have, I now think, put me in line for carrying on some dreams which have recently beset me. Our Ambassador, Mr.
