My work in London will be mainly the gathering together there, and reshipment of things bought in Syria. Purchases made in Constantinople are being shippped, through Embassy aid, direct to the Smithsonian without Turkish inspection.

Your letters do not mention the amount due you and H.B.L. for endorsement, and I have forgotten whether it stood at 35 or $50.00 when I left home. Of course, Truman and Phil both have quite

large endorsement responsibility also. So, large liabilities face poor Cam. I hope he will not lose his courage. I have just sent him a sympathetic cable reading "Deepest sympathy old boy". I hope no calamity will follow poor Hana's action. But Cam is of much stronger and much finer fibre! He must keep his nerve, and a few words from you to him personally will be of greatest assistance.
