MY DEAR SIR:
Your interesting letter of January 21st came in this morning's mail, and I am delighted to learn of the success you have achieved in arranging with several of your noblemen to loan from their famous collections noted specimens of Japanese Art for the Exhibition proposed here in America. I trust you will also be able to secure a few of the superb small bronze figures belonging to the Imperial Household.

The autumn is a much better time in which to hold an Exhibition than the spring as originally talked. I should say that the best possible months would be October and November.

Fortunately, I am starting for New York tonight, expecting to spend the balance of this week there. This will give me an early opportunity to consult with Mr. Hyashi, as you suggest. I shall also see Prof. Fenollosa, and, if possible, a few other leading gentlemen interested in this matter.

Much care and thought will be required in selecting a place in which to hold the Exhibition, &c, &c.
