MY DEAR MR. ROOSEVELT

Your good letter of February twenty-fourth is received. You are very kind in giving Mr. Melchers two sittings of three hours each on Sundays. Mr. Melchers, along with myself, I am sure, will be pleased with this decision when it is made known to him.

We, of course, also understand your objection to permitting the work to be done outside of the White House, also the impossibility of devoting more than one hour of each working day to the portrait.

As per arrangement made by wire with Mr. Loeb, Mr. Melchers and I will gladly call upon you on Friday next at 10.30 A.M.

Believe me, with great respect,
Respectfully yours,
Charles L Freer

HON. THEODORE ROOSEVELT,
Washington, D.C.
