Dear Mr. Freer:- The following mail matter was received to-day: No.12. Letter from Miss Birnie-Philip, No.13. Letter from Copley Society, No.14. Letter from American Art Galleries, No.15. Letter from E. E. Amsler, New York, No.16. Letter from Yamanaka & Co. The new Chef reached town this morning, train one hour and a half late. Stephen met him at the station and brought him to the office. He seems to understand and talk English very well. I settled up with the old Chef and he leaves on the afternoon train.
