Mr. Hayashi -

can assure our Japanese friends that the exhibitions can be given in a manner to honor them and their art, we must abandon the plan.  I, for one, would not consent to permit such treasures to be sent here for exhibition unless we saw the brightest prospects of carrying out all details to a most successful issue.  Do you see the possibility of such an accomplishment?

I am planning to be in New York within a week or ten days, at which time, I trust to see you and to get your views more definitely as to what action should be taken.

I wish you a charming homeward journey and safe return.  When I see you in New York, I will make some verbal suggestions concerning things of artistic interest in Europe which I should like you to see.
